Banco Central de Paraguay
The Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) is the country’s autonomous monetary authority, responsible for issuing the guaraní, managing monetary policy, and ensuring financial stability.
In the digital space, it acts as the main online source of economic and financial information for the Paraguayan population, offering official reports, exchange rates, statistics, and policy updates. Through initiatives like the Instant Payment System (SPI), it promotes secure, real-time, and low-cost transactions for banks and fintech companies.
Its mission is to safeguard the currency’s value and maintain a stable financial system, contributing to the nation’s economic well-being. Its vision is to be an efficient, independent, and credible institution, recognized nationally and internationally for its commitment to monetary stability and financial soundness.
Responsive Redesign with WCAG 2.1 Accessibility
UX/UI redesign of the Central Bank of Paraguay’s portal, making it fully responsive, WCAG 2.1 compliant, and powered by a multi-theme design system with light and dark modes, modern look & feel, and updated information architecture.

Problem
The institutional website of the Banco Central de Paraguay was outdated both visually and structurally.
It had been implemented years earlier with a desktop-only approach, lacking adaptation to mobile and tablet devices.
Its information architecture was fragmented, making navigation difficult, and it did not meet WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.
The absence of a unified design system generated visual inconsistencies across sections and microsites.
Old Version

Process
- Initial Materials & Benchmarking
Received branding assets from the Bank’s Marketing & Communications department: typography, color palette, and a basic homepage wireframe.
Conducted a benchmark analysis comparing Central Bank websites across Latin America and Europe to identify best practices in structure, communication style, and interaction patterns.
- Iterative Design & Interaction Prototyping
Developed multiple design proposals in Figma, refining layouts, components, and navigation based on client feedback.
Created interaction prototypes in Framer to showcase desktop and mobile behaviors for the header, menus, and navigation flows.
- Design System Creation
Built a scalable Design System including styles, typography, effects, and six theme variations (light and dark modes).
Integrated font size controls for user customization across the portal.
Ensured compliance with WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines.
- Implementation & Scope
Final designs approved and implemented in Liferay CMS.
Designed the main institutional portal (root domain) and three satellite microsites, each with unique themes and structures while maintaining Design System consistency.

Solution
The redesign delivered a modern, responsive, and accessible institutional portal aligned with international standards for financial institutions.
The unified Design System provided a cohesive visual identity across the main site and microsites, enabling scalability for future updates.
The new information architecture improved usability, content discoverability, and mobile navigation, strengthening the Banco Central de Paraguay’s digital presence.
The project, completed over six months, successfully transformed an outdated, desktop-centric site into a flexible, inclusive, and user-focused platform.
