Antel
Antel (National Telecommunications Administration - Administración Nacional de Telecomunicaciones) is the state-owned telecommunications company of Uruguay, founded in 1974 as a decentralized government entity. It is the country’s leading provider of landline services, Internet (ADSL and fiber), and mobile telephony, and was a pioneer in the region in deploying LTE and 5G networks. Currently, it holds approximately 60% of the mobile market share, maintaining a strong lead over competitors such as Movistar and Claro.
End to end Multi-Portal Redesign & Design System Creation
UX/UI design project for the modernization of Antel’s web portal, incorporating an optimized information architecture and a scalable design system.

Problem
Antel’s digital ecosystem was fragmented into three separate platforms — Portal, Store, and MiAntel — each with different visual styles, user flows, and technologies. The Portal served as the main entry point but lacked a clear purpose, mixing institutional content, promotions, and access to the Store and MiAntel. The Store (tienda.com.uy) handled sales of internet, mobile plans, and devices but operated in isolation, while MiAntel offered self-management tools. Users faced inconsistent navigation and multiple logins — a session in MiAntel wouldn’t carry over to the Store, and vice versa — creating friction and confusion.

Process
The redesign was approached in two phases: first while working at Soho, and later at ISA-Interface. We began by analyzing the structure, navigation flows, and inconsistencies across the platforms. We redesigned the information architecture, aligning content and user journeys to simplify navigation. The UI, outdated for years, was overhauled with a modern and unified style, introducing a new Design System built from scratch called specifically to ensure visual and functional consistency. The system defined typography standards, a cohesive color palette, and unified iconography, eliminating inconsistencies even within each platform. We also designed templates for promotional landings for high-impact launches such as iPhone and Samsung Galaxy pre-sales, later expanded to Xiaomi and seasonal campaigns like Antel’s Anniversary and Cyber Monday.

Solution
We delivered a scalable, unified Design System that could adapt to all three platforms, standardizing styles and ensuring consistent user experiences. The integration plan included adaptable components for Portal, Store, and MiAntel, making them visually and functionally cohesive while preparing the ecosystem for future expansions. This solution not only improved aesthetics but also reduced user friction, created a stronger brand presence, and enabled a more efficient development process across different technologies.
